Things have been apparently very quiet at the team, but that is far, far from the truth.
After a very quiet signing of Kenny Juluko, Winthrop Pavey has been transferred to team MCT.
Also, Some riders from the climbing outfit have been undergoing strenuous training in order to prepare for the season ahead, starting with a signup for Volta ao Porto.
On the sprinting side, Gil Pinho has been released to allow him to search for a competitive team for him. The Portuguese had enough talent to stay at camp Torreira, but managerial aspects of the sport and his age played a role at the final decision to replace him with young man Rodolfo Segurola, who can become a very interesting cobble racer. Also, and before that, the team pickep up the contract of free agent Anselmo Porcallo who looks very interesting for the role of leadout.
Just today, the team signed also free agent Floyd Lacroix from the Isle of Man. Many eyebrows seemed to be raised when a reporter identified former Hungry bindol rider coming into the Torreira camp with Yasir Sahir's shirt and the news traveled fast. Quite simply, he was only hired today and since there was a problem with the locks on the equipment storage, there were no available shirts, other than the ones riders had on their suitcases. Being the always supportive captain Yasir was the first to offer help. And since Lacroix got to the training ground very early and left with the other riders for the morning practice, no one actually noticed it until they came back.
And with Volta ao Porto drawing ever so close, the team is already in preparation for that. Many practice sessions and a couple of races maybe until them. Also, the sprinting outfit can be expected to put Rodolfo Segurola on the train for Berkhout.
On other news, the winner of the first ever start of season raffle was Mr. José Silva. He will be driving one of the team's sponsorship scooters on the pre-race showcase.
The team also signed an agreement with local council for road repairs. Basically they fix the roads, and we ride on them...
